Trip to Jakarta, Indonesia

Had a relaxing trip to Jakarta, on holidays........was fun.
Why? Because at last can be a millionaire....just like that!
Really wonderful feeling at first touch of millions, but after
a while...it was sheer headache.

Reached Jakarta and adjourned to the famous Bandung city.
You can also reach Bandung direct from KL by Air Asia.
or go Pg-Jakarta and then by road to Bandung.
Bandung is famous for its volcanoes and its factory outlets at
Jalan Drago. We opted for scenery, so this is what you will get.

First stop was Kawah Putih, away from Bandung town. By the way
the journey took us almost 4 hours by road.

See, you need to pay Rp1000(about 35 sen) to go to the toilet.
Now the volcano craters with traces of sulpur all over.

And around there you will find something like Cameron Highalnds.....
a tea plantation.

I really love the tranquility of this place, so peaceful that you can sit here all day.

See,the tea leaves exactly as in Camerons.

This is another volcano, but cannot remember the name....haha
all in Indonesian..quite difficult to remember.

A corn seller at the volcanoe sight.

Commonly found everywhere, horse or pony rides.

See, a simple life makes them so happy.
Gorengan, they called them....fried tapioca and bananas.

Along the road side, can see people selling angklung, you shake it to
get a musical tone.

And nice hats/capes to keep away the cold....

The volcano looks alive...wonder whether it will erupt. Thank God,
we are home again...keke.

After visiting the volacnoes, went down to a strawberry farm.
Can pick the strawberries and buy them.
Or buy the prepacked ones.

One of the fast food outlets, one free bottle of tea for every bowl of mee ordered.

Then, there are also other nice foods around Jakarta.

The food we took, see the chicken, dunno why all the chicken we ate
are the skinny time, none fat as the ones we ate in Malaysia.
The food here are quite of high standard and not so cheap...

This one is full of santan, coconut milk. This and the one above are
from the high class Senayan Plaza,. in Jakarta.
Next is FX mall, the one with a slider from some top floor
down to ground level. The sliders are tubes connected in a spiral and
you slide down from the top.
The tubes keep on changing colours, as you can see, from my pics below.
Looks scary, ya?

And this one, taken not so clear, because it looks interesting.
Dared not go close to take the pics, because there are people watching.
The one on top show the ladies, and the one below show the gents.
They are toilets, interesting? Have not seen them so obvious before.

Jakarta is actually very like Penang, street hawkers all over.
We dare to just sit down and eat in Penang, because it looks familiar to us.
But, in Jakarta, people always tell us, cannot patronise these places
because they are not so hygenic. I personally feel there is no harm done.
The food looks good.

See, we packed some to try, quite tasty, especially the mee.

There is a Toyata Yaris exhibition at the Anggerik Mall in West Jakarta.
Looks spectacular. and its just like here, models of cars with real
stunning models at the side.

Not forgetting, a Johnny ....saloon inside the Mall. Prices are reasonable.
A haircut is Rp58,000 (around RM20) inclusive of a wash.
The place was really packed, and a lot of hairdressers were around.
The washing was systematically done, like departmental type.
One department for washing, and one for cutting.
Each person assigned to one type of job only.
Real good.

At last, food courts....are also here. There are lots of different foods
to be found at the food courts and they are not really cheap,
around RM6 or 7 per bowl of mee.
But anyway, they are nice and clean.

There are many types of restaurants also in this Mall.
What you see in Malaysia, you can also get in this mall.
All look so familiar to me.
As a true Penangite, this is where I am attracted to, as always.
Penang food. Little Penang, with branches in Plaza Senayan too.
Opted for hawker food, curry mee, and fried lobak.
Taste, ok lah...of course not as good as the ones we have in Penang.
But good is the word.

Nice, clean and with quite a big serving.
And then as in all places, crepe....
Nice and crispy.

In Jakarta, this is quite often. Jams. Motorbikes all over.
This was snapped at Chinatown.(Glodok)

In Glodok plaza, you will find many many stalls selling VCD and DVD.
And they are openly sold, cheap cheap too. HK , China, Taiwan,
Hollywood series...what you want also can get them here.
Rp5000(RM1.70 plus) each.

Ate fried mihun at a street stall in Glodok.

Nice to eat, see?
Dessert, boiled nuts.
Fresh and hot and cheap.

Walked about in a place called Tanjung Duren at night.
Many residential areas having Independence Day celebrations.
See? It was celebrated on 18 August, but almost evreyday people
are celebrating with concerts and talentime competitions.

And the common food that we also get in Malaysia, Pizza Hut.
But I love them, so nicely packed as a slice.

Not forgetting the tidbits that are commonly found everywhere.

And to end my post, my favorite food.
Beef balls.
Big giant size beefballs and cheap too.
The main stall is in Grogol.
The chilli was magical. Hot and spicy.
Rp9000 a bowl. Cheap. 7 big beef balls.

And the workers was thrilled to be photographed.
All like a fast food restaurant, with a red collared uniform to give
the clean look.

With this,I end my Jakarta trip.
Hope to go again another time to be a millionaire.

Yaya, stalls are everywhere, it's just that we are suspicious of them, just like tourists are of our hawkers in every nook and corner.
But, really, honestly, it really is tempting....
And they are polite too.
